8.3 million TUI travelers visited sustainable hotels

According to the internal TUI report the sustainable hotels had to have a standard like Green Key, that has been accepted by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

8.3 million TUI costumers have during 2017 chosen to stay at a sustainable hotel during their travels, which is an increase of 31.1 percent compared to the previous year. Currently 80 percent of all TUI owned hotels are eco-labeled.

The ambition of the company is to increase the number of people choosing sustainable hotels up to 10 million by the year of 2020. Therefore the TUI Group now encourages their hotels to get eco-labeled with a GSTC-approved eco label like Green Key.

TUI also puts emphasis on lowering the climate impact of aviation as well as cruise ships. This is documented in TUI's status report for 2017, "Better Holidays, Better World".
